About the event
From the front-lines at Standing Rock to the archaic streets of Jerusalem, the Sahel Desert to Carnegie Hall, music has been the source of strength for Avi Salloway. He is a musician, activist, and educator who has co-written, produced, and recorded on 15 albums and performed over 1500 concerts across five continents. After living in Los Angeles and Cambridge, MA for many years, he has recently returned to Vermont. Salloway is the bandleader and songwriter for the band, Billy Wylder, and previously the guitarist/singer in Bombino’s band, the Tuareg guitar hero from Niger. He has performed at Coachella, New Orleans Jazz Fest, Montreal Jazz Fest, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center and has also collaborated with renowned artists including Jack Johnson, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Bombino, Tinariwen, David Longstreth (Dirty Projectors), The Low Anthem, Celia Woodsmith and Pete Seeger.
